SAS vs Tower Hill Game 2Posted Saturday, May 02, 2009 by Jay Huthinson On a day when the Saints out ground-balled and out-shot Tower Hill, the Saints could not find the winning formula against the #2 ranked team in the state. In many cases, the Saints outhustled the visitors on this beautiful final day of April but were unable to capitalize on outstanding riding and better clearing. At no time was this more apparent than in the third quarter when the home team pulled within one at 3 – 4 on Hugo Francis’ goal assisted by Cam McDonald. On the ensuing faceoff, McDonald won the draw and the Saints got a good shot saved by the goalie. Tower tried to clear but the attack dug deep riding beautifully and they got the ball back only to lose it again. Tower Hill picked it up and ran down scoring on their first of two third quarter transition goals. With the score at 6 – 3 going into the final frame, the Hillers scored the next two to go up 8 -3 virtually guaranteeing a victory. The Saints never gave up though and tallied in twice in the last couple of minutes to make the score more respectable and ensure that Tower Hill didn’t cover the spread. The team hopes to rebound this Saturday against Caesar Rodney in Dover, in a make-up game scheduled to begin at 1:30 PM. We need your support !
