SAS vs Sanford game 2 2009

Posted Wednesday, April 29, 2009 by Jay Hutchinson
In a somewhat lacksadaisical performance from the Saints, the team was still able to notch a victory to move its record to 6 – 5 with critical games against Tower Hill and Caesar Rodney coming up.  Starting slowly, the Saints found themselves down 3 – 1 early on with the lone goal coming on a White to Millspaugh hookup (the first of three).  Tenacious riding in the second quarter denied the Warriors the ball in their offensive end as the Saints shut them out in the second quarter.  Wesley, Francis, and Millspaugh all had goals resulting from riding.  At the half the Saints were dominating, up by five.  Four penalties and some defensive breakdowns in the second half gave Sanford reason to fight but Wesley’s two second half goals put the nail in the coffin.  This was a particularly outstanding game for the attack as it scored ten of the Saints goals and rode relentlessly causing many Sanford turnovers.  One of the prettiest goals of the second half came off of an inside roll by Peter Kang, his first varsity tally.  The Saints will need to batten down the hatches for Tower Hill this Thursday.  We hope to see many of you there.
