On a beautiful, summer like day, SAS dominated cross town rival Middletown by a score of 17-5 and evened up their season record to 5 wins and 5 losses. This was clearly the best offensive performance of the season as the team consistently moved the ball around to get the best shots available. The fact that 6 different players scored and most of the goals were assisted, proves that better ball movement and player movement leads to better scoring opportunities. Taylor White had a very strong game with 5 goals and a number of assists (The Wilmington News Journal only included the goals and not the assists, so I will update everything when I get the stats from Hutch). Bucky Pierce, playing at attack for the first time this season due to a hip strain, contributed with 4 goals and a number of assists as well. Jaivon Wesley, Luke Walter and Max Dynerman all had multiple goal games. Russell Train had his second goal of the season with a long pole. The defense had a strong game as well as they never allowed Middletown to get settled in their offense and took the ball away a number of times. Alex Flynn was dominant in faceoffs and without seeing the stats, looked to win more than 80% of the draws. Finally, some younger players like Connor Gerstley, Jordy Gowen, and Jay Krebs got some extensive playing time. The Saints play a strong Brandywine team next Saturday at 11am. |
