St. Andrew's got their second conference win of the season with a 6-4 defeat of Sanford School. The score is a bit misleading as SAS was winning 6-1 in the middle of the fourth quarter which allowed Coach Hutchinson to get some of the younger, less experienced players, some valuable varsity playing time. Russell Train had his best game since returning from injury with a huge number of ground balls coming from the wing on faceoffs. Russell also got his first goal of the season with a nice, full field run and hard shot past the goalie. Other scorers for SAS were Co-Captains Phil Valliant and Luke Walter, along with junior midfielder Jaivon Wesley. Alex Flynn was dominant on face offs and allowed SAS to control the ball for most of the game. The defense continued it's strong play as did Co-Captain goalie Dan Dittmar. SAS has a big home game on Saturday against rival Middletown, who sport a 7-1 record this season. The team will need to play a great game to kick off the long weekend break with a victory. |
