For those of you who are not fortunate enough to be in Florida, here is an update on the team thus far: The team has been working very hard over the last few days and are coming together as a team. Although there are some sore muscles, the spirits remain high. SAS had a rough opening game with a very strong Brunswick team. It was pretty clear that this was the first game for SAS, as there were a lot of mistakes and the rustiness showed. Brunswick won the game 11-2. SAS came back the next night and played a tough, defensive game with Kingswood and ultimately were victorious by a score of 3-2. Phil Valliant had 2 goals and Bucky Pierce had a goal and the defense and Dan Dittmar in goal played strongly. Lat night, SAS played the Kent Denver "B" team and came back from being down 4-2, to win the game 5-4. Phil Valliant again led the scoring and Jaivon Wesley also had a nice goal. All of the parents here (Van Fossan's, Pierce's, McDonalds, and Mary Ellen Valliant and children with a surprise visit from Jay and Roseanne Brown) have been very vocal cheering on the boys. The boys have 3 more games with one tonight and 2 on Friday before heading home for the season opener on Tuesday. I will send one more update at the end of the tourney. |
